Tech Scout Support
Thanks for using Tech Scout! This app is a labor of love and was developed by one person. If you have any questions, feedback, or technical problems… I’m here to help!
Getting Started
Tech Scout requires an iPhone running iOS 17.2 or later. When you first open the app, you'll be guided through a short introduction and asked for camera and location permissions. Camera access is required to shoot; location access is optional and is only used for on-device features like sun tracking and photo organization.
Subscription
Tech Scout offers a free demo so you can try the app before subscribing. Full access is available through an auto-renewing yearly subscription, managed entirely through your Apple ID. You can view, change, or cancel your subscription at any time in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple Account → Subscriptions. To restore a previous purchase on a new device, use the Restore Purchases option on the subscription screen.
Privacy
Tech Scout does not collect, transmit, or sell your data. Your photos, projects, and location information never leave your device. If you choose to send us feedback, an encrypted technical diagnostic log is attached to help us troubleshoot — it never contains your images, location, or personal information.
Troubleshooting
If the app isn't behaving as expected, try force-quitting and reopening it, and make sure you're running the latest version from the App Store. If a problem persists, we'd love to hear about it — the easiest way is the Send Feedback button inside the app (Setup Mode → Send Feedback), which automatically includes the diagnostic details we need. That diagnostic log is enormously helpful and will help us squash the bug.
If you’re encountering performance issues, one quick fix is to disable the “Scout Viewfinder” in your camera settings (or Director’s Finder Settings). The Scout Viewfinder is an important part of the Tech Scout experience, but it is computationally expensive and may hinder usability on older iOS devices. But even if that’s what you’re encountering… please submit feedback via the “Send Feedback” button in the app!
